About the Role
As a Detection & Response Analyst, you will play a key role in protecting HBF’s digital environment by maintaining and enhancing our cyber detection and response capabilities. Working within the Cyber Resilience team, you’ll monitor threats, respond to incidents, and proactively hunt for vulnerabilities across our systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders and contribute to strengthening our overall security posture.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor, analyse and respond to cyber security threats using tools such as SIEM, EDR and DLP platforms
  • Conduct proactive threat hunting activities across networks, systems and critical business services
  • Maintain and optimise cyber security monitoring tools, including Splunk, Microsoft Defender and Sentinel
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of cyber security standards, processes and documentation
  • Investigate security incidents, provide recommendations and support incident response activities
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance detection, response and operational efficiency

This position is based in Perth on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

About You
You are an experienced cyber security professional with a passion for threat detection and response. You bring strong technical expertise, an analytical mindset and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You’re proactive, detail-oriented and confident providing guidance to stakeholders on cyber risks and controls.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a cyber security role focused on detection, response or threat hunting
  • Strong technical knowledge of cyber security frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as Splunk, SIEM, EDR and DLP platforms
  • Solid understanding of risk management practices and cyber security principles, policies and regulations
  • Experience investigating and responding to security incidents, threats and vulnerabilities
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Technology, Cyber Security or a related discipline
